Successful Funding Rounds

Mitokine applied for additional funds from the Maine Technology Institute (MTI) to further develop our product to meet FDA requirements.

In June 2009, Mitokine received the MTI Seed Grant to test a novel combination therapy for development as a human diabetes treatment.  Support from Maine Technology Institute allowed Mitokine to demonstrate the effectiveness of our product, a single amino acid, in reversing glucose abnormalities in naturally diabetic dogs. The data from this small, state-funded study was the cornerstone for a successful SBIR application from the NIH for a larger study in 2009.

In August 2009, Mitokine received NIH NIDDK Phase I SBIR funding to test Mitokine's treatment in 12 diabetic dogs in collaboration with Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine.
